All For Lunch was established in 2017 and has been working to eliminate school lunch debt ever since.

All for Lunch was founded on one simple yet powerful belief: EVERY CHILD DESERVES ACCESS TO LUNCH AT SCHOOL.

In 2017, founder Alessandra Ferrara-Miller was deeply moved by a news story about a young elementary school student who had been publicly shamed for having unpaid lunch debt. As the mother of a 5-year-old kindergartener at the time, she was heartbroken by the thought of a child so young being denied a meal due to circumstances beyond their control. She knew something had to be done.

Through her research, Alessandra discovered that school lunch debt was a widespread issue affecting students from kindergarten through high school. Even more alarming were the various forms of lunch shaming used to penalize children—sending them home with stamps on their arms reading “I need lunch money,” forcing them to do custodial work in the cafeteria to “earn” a meal, or even taking their lunch away in front of their peers. Every day, children as young as five were facing these humiliating experiences simply because their families couldn’t afford to pay.

Determined to change this, All for Lunch was born—to eliminate school lunch debt, restore dignity to students, and ensure that no child is ever denied a meal.

And So All for Lunch was born.

After establishing All for Lunch as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, what began as a simple Facebook fundraiser to pay off lunch debt in the small town of Suwanee, GA, has grown into a nationwide movement. Today, All for Lunch supports hundreds of students across the country, working tirelessly to identify and eliminate school lunch debt, ensuring that no child goes without a meal.

Committed to its mission, All for Lunch not only wipes out existing lunch debt but also funds reserve accounts to cover meals for children who lack the necessary funds. Through advocacy and awareness, the organization continues to shine a light on childhood food insecurity and drive meaningful change.

All for Lunch is entirely funded by donations, and the generosity of supporters like you makes this vital work possible. Without your financial contributions, we couldn’t continue our mission to keep kids lunch debt-free and ensure that every child, regardless of their family’s financial situation, has access to a nutritious meal at school.

Born and raised in California, Alessandra “Ally” made her way to Georgia in 2015 and now proudly calls the South her home. Driven by a deep passion for giving back, she leads a Girl Scout troop, serves on the Local School Council, and actively seeks out volunteer opportunities in her community. With a background in marketing and domain management, Ally is a tech enthusiast who thrives on innovation.

Family is at the heart of everything she does. Whether cheering on her children at their sporting events or exploring the outdoors with her husband, she cherishes every moment spent together. As a dedicated advocate for children, Ally is on a mission to eliminate school lunch debt and ensure every child has access to a meal at school.
