Today is Giving Tuesday, it’s one of the biggest giving days of the entire year. And because of that, we are setting a big goal today, $30,000. Can we count on you to help us get there before midnight tonight?
School lunch debt is a major issue impacting so many children and families throughout your local community. To put it in perspective, in the counties that make up Atlanta, GA, the combined lunch debt is over $100,000. That debt is carried by many children living in food insecurity with some as young as 5 years old. For some of these kids, school lunch may be their only guaranteed meal for the day.
Children in your community are struggling every day. With your support, we can help make sure that every child has access to lunch regardless of their financial situation at home. Our Giving Tuesday goal of $30,000 will help cover the cost of about 10,000 and help take the weight of this debt off the child’s plate. As we go into the holiday season, children should be able to focus on being children, not on being hungry.
